Taylor Swift Among Time Magazine’s Elite
Fresh from being designated an 'Agent of Change' by Rolling Stone magazine, Taylor Swift is now in the running for another prestigious honor -- this one from Time magazine.
In an annual feature, Time spotlights the World's 100 Most Influential People in government, science, technology and the arts. Based on a pre-determined list of about 200 candidates, the magazine also asks readers for their rankings of the most influential. Entertaining youngsters Swift, her BFF Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers and actor Zac Efron are all currently ranked in the Top 30 on the the initial list, along with world leaders such as President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Morgan Tsvangirai, the Prime Minister of Zimbabwe.
Also making a strong showing are Comedy Central stars Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. The top vote-getter so far in the entertainment industry is South Korean pop singer Rain, who was the No. 1 choice of Time readers in 2007, and finished second in 2008.
The Time 100 list was first introduced in 1998, when Albert Einstein was named the magazine's Person of the Century.
