"I owe everything to you," Taylor Swift told her fellow Cover Girl Ellen DeGeneres at the start of Wednesday's (May 11) episode of the comedienne's talk show. The 'Mean' singer then jokingly admitted that before she met Ellen, she was "getting drunk with strangers at a bus station." The first segment of the 'Ellen DeGeneres Show' ended with both spokeswomen trotting in place, pouting their lips and squinting while a fan blew their hair -- otherwise known as "the way to be a Cover Girl."

Before taking the stage to perform her next single, 'The Story of Us,' Taylor sat down with Ellen to chat about her fame, new house in Los Angeles and what she's doing for tornado relief.

Ellen asked specifically about how difficult it is for the superstar to date in the public eye. "It's obnoxious if I complain about anything," Taylor responded. "I hear [celebrities] talk about, 'Oh, the intrusions on my privacy.' There are a million other jobs you could have had. For me, I've come to an acceptance of the fact that this is my life. If somebody wants to hide a relationship or has privacy issues, then we don't have the same viewpoint. For me, it's live your life. If someone happens to take pictures then you laugh about it in the car afterward. Whatever."

Furthermore, Taylor doesn't let her fame get in the way of her life either. "It's all about what your idea of normalcy is," she continued. "For me, it's living my life and going to the same coffee shops that I went to four years ago. It's fun to live a life and have a career, but not be too consumed in either one. It's all about a balance."

It's that balance that made Taylor decide to buy a place in L.A.; she wanted that feeling of home. "I got a house out here because I was staying in hotels out here so much," she explains. "Nashville is always going to be home to me, though."

Lastly, Taylor talked about the tour rehearsals she's opened up to fans in order to raise funds for those affected in the South's recent tornadoes. "We might have to start some songs over again," she warns. "Things might go wrong, but I don't care. It's worth it."

After her performance, Taylor hung around to surprise one of her biggest fans with floor seats and VIP passes to one of her upcoming tour stops in L.A.
