Tara Thompson has announced the release of her debut EP, Someone to Take Your Place. The project, which shares its name with Thompson's debut single, is set for release on June 10 via the Valory Music Co.

Thompson announced the album's release on Big Machine Label Group's Facebook page, where she told fans that some of the new songs were inspired by family -- specifically, the song "Vows" is about Thompson's sister's wedding, and "Pregnant at the Prom" is an ode to her mother. Thompson, who is a third cousin to country icon Loretta Lynn, co-wrote all of the tracks on her Someone to Take Your Place EP. She says that her style stays true to her East Tennessee upbringing.

“When I first started writing with other people, I’d go in and say, ‘All right, here’s the deal: It’s gotta be really country, no pop, and there can’t be no man-bashing. Because if anyone is cheating, it’s gonna be me, by God. And no love songs,'” she says. “I actually got fired from Tootsie’s because my set was just too old-school. I saw Loretta the other day and told her that I finally got a record deal, and she said, ‘It’s about damn time!'”

Thompson has a handful of tour dates coming up over the next couple of months. See a full list of dates at TaraThompson.com.
