Blake Shelton was born and raised in Ada, Okla., the youngest of three children. His parents, Richard and Dorothy Shelton, divorced when he was nine, and when Shelton was 14, his older brother Richie was killed in a car accident. Shelton moved to Nashville to pursue a career in country music just after graduating high school in the early '90s, but he didn't release his first single, "Austin," until 2001; it soared to the top of the charts. In 2015, Shelton earned his 16th consecutive No. 1 single with "Gonna," making him the artist with the most consecutive No. 1 songs on the Billboard and Mediabase country charts since the beginning of monitored airplay. The singer became a coach on NBC's 'The Voice' in 2011.
