Rocker-turned-country singer Steven Tyler added another role to his acting portfolio on Wednesday night (Sept. 23), when he appeared on Nashville's season premiere to sing a duet with series star Hayden Panettiere.

Panettiere, who plays country starlet Juliette Barnes on the show, performed Patsy Cline's "Crazy." And Tyler soon joined her, breezily harmonizing with the actress and even taking on a solo part during the song.

The rocker first spilled the news about his Nashville appearance in August, when he shared a photo of himself and Panettiere on Instagram.

“HAYDEN AND I GETTING A LITTLE “CRAZY” ON SET AT @nashvilleabc," the 67-year-old captioned the snapshot. "YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS THIS ...... #PATSYCLINE."

"Hayden is a peach," Tyler tells EW. "She’s a seasoned pro, from her success on NBC’s Heroes … she’s a true professional both while filming, recording and off set as well."

Contrary to many television performance sequences, Tyler and Panettiere sang the song live on set instead of pre-recording it -- and Tyler was more than impressed with Panettiere's pipes.

"Why lip sync when you can sing live? And yes — she is that good!" he says. "We had to give the audience a performance. My favorite thing about filming is that I can yell, 'CUT!' and have a do-over if I want. There are no cuts in rock 'n’ roll."

Tyler is readying his debut country album with a hopeful release date of 2016. He's already dropped the project's debut single, "Love Is Your Name," but admits that he's not rushing the project in any way.

“I don’t even know who I’m producing it with,” he reports. “It’s gonna be what it is. There’s a couple of songs I’ve written, and they’re, like, rock, and I said, ‘Oh, geez.’ And I’m not gonna put a banjo on it just to make it country … I don’t know what it’s gonna be, but my heart leans [toward] the country feeling and the vibe.”
