Steve Wariner has been granted a temporary restraining order against a woman who has allegedly been stalking him for more than 20 years.

According to Courthouse News Service, Wariner first met Linda Marie Shinn after performing at the Houston Rodeo in 1989, where she gained access backstage by claiming that her son had cancer. She subsequently gained access to other events before the singer discovered that she had invented her son's illness, whereafter she was banned from future meet and greets.

The singer filed court documents in Harris County, Texas on Tuesday (July 30), asking that she refrain from contacting him or his family through any means, and that she remain at least 500 yards away from any venue where he is performing. His suit paints a bizarre portrait of Shinn as a woman who has continued to harass him in person, through letters, phone calls, emails and social media posts over the course of decades.

Wariner's complaint alleges that Shinn "continued contacting plaintiffs on numerous occasions by showing up at meet and greets, calling venues where Steve Wariner was performing, calling into radio interviews when plaintiff was being interviewed, contacting plaintiff's employees, booking agents and family. During these interactions, defendant told numerous lies in an attempt to gather personal information about plaintiffs."

Shinn has allegedly represented herself as Wariner's girlfriend, a family member or employee in order to obtain information about him, and even visited his home and looked in the window, describing his furniture to him in a subsequent email. She has reportedly represented in numerous posts online that she and Wariner have a relationship, and that he is the father of her child.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Shinn was finally arrested and charged with harassment on May 20, 2012 at Nashville International Airport, after warning the singer that she was coming to Nashville and that if she didn't get to see him, he “would know what will happen and that he would not like it.”

Despite receiving probation and being ordered not to have any contact with Wariner, the brief claims she has "continued her threatening, erratic and harassing behavior." The filing calls her claims that she can communicate with the singer's deceased mother, and Wariner himself via telepathy, "absurd and frightening."

Wariner is releasing a new studio album, 'It Ain't All Bad,' in September. He is scheduled to perform in Texas in August and September, which led to him filing the complaint. "Defendant has stated that she purchased tickets to some of these shows and that she expects to meet with Steve Wariner at these events," the suit reads. "Defendant has also stated that plaintiffs had better be separated or divorced by these performances. Based on defendant's past behavior, plaintiffs are scared of having any interaction with defendant."

A hearing on the matter is scheduled for Aug. 8.
