Stella Parton, ‘Dirty Rotten Dog’ Music Video [Exclusive Premiere]
Singer-songwriter Stella Parton's single "Dirty Rotten Dog" has an element of sarcasm to it, and she extended that quality to its music video, premiering today on The Boot. Press play above to watch.
Parton tells The Boot that she wrote "Dirty Rotten Dog" on a whim one morning: She was just "playing around on the guitar," but once she found the melody, "I had the song finished before I could finish my coffee!"
"The #MeToo movement had just started to pick up at the time, so I decided to see how sarcastic I could make it and manage to keep from laughing when I went into the studio to record it," she continues. "Hopefully people will find the humor in it, and no it’s not about a dog! Actually, it could be about a dog or a man!”
Parton's "Dirty Rotten Dog" music video features her performing the song in a brick-walled, pink- and yellow-lit studio, interspersed with both shots of a man and some adorable pooches. It's just goofy enough to drive home that sarcastic tone in which Parton penned the track.
"Dirty Rotten Dog" comes from Parton's 40th studio album, Survivor, due out on March 29. The younger sister of country music icon Dolly Parton, Stella Parton independently recorded and produced her new project at Nashville Sound Project House. The record addresses a wealth of issues, from the #MeToo movement to divorce; it contains eight original songs, as well as covers of Bob Seger's "Like a Rock" and Avicii's "Wake Me Up."
