Less than three years after Scotty McCreery became the Season 10 winner of 'American Idol,' the singer has earned his third gold single. McCreery's latest tune, 'See You Tonight,' has just been certified gold, signifying sales in excess of 500,000 units.

The song is is the title track of McCreery's sophomore album. The North Carolina native wrote 'See You Tonight' and four other tunes for the record, which he says he put a lot of thought into.

"If I put a song on the record, it’s because I thought it had a point and a meaning to it," he tells Taste of Country. "The ones that I wrote are personal to me because they were kind of in my mind and stuff that we threw around."

The 20-year-old celebrated his success with his record label, Interscope/19/Mercury Records, with a party at Nashville hot spot, Pinewood Social.

While McCreery has earned two other gold singles -- for 'I Love You This Big' and 'The Trouble With Girls' from his debut 'Clear as Day' album -- this marks his first as a writer.
