Sam Hunt, Carrie Underwood Earn 2017 Teen Choice Awards
Sam Hunt and Carrie Underwood took home trophies at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards. The ceremony was held Sunday night (Aug. 13).
Underwood picked up the Choice Country Artist trophy at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards, while Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road" earned the victory in the Choice Country Song category. Although neither artist was at the ceremony, Underwood tweeted her thanks on Sunday night: "Thanks so much, fans, for the Teen Choice Award for #ChoiceCountryArtist ❤️🎤 You guys are the best! 😘"
Also nominated for Choice Country Artist were Hunt, Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line, Kelsea Ballerini and Luke Bryan. Hunt's Choice Country Song competitors were Thomas Rhett and Maren Morris ("Craving You"), Shelton ("Every Time I Hear That Song"), Keith Urban and Underwood ("The Fighter"), FGL and the Backstreet Boys ("God, Your Mama and Me") and Brett Young ("In Case You Didn't Know").
In addition to the country-specific categories, a few country artists earned nods in all-genre 2017 Teen Choice Awards categories, although they did not win any of those trophies. Hunt was nominated in the Choice Song: Male and Choice Summer Tour categories, while Florida Georgia Line and BSB were up for Choice Collaboration, and FGL were in the running for Choice Summer Group. Additionally, Shelton received Choice Twit and Choice TV Personality nods, and Brett Eldredge earned a Choice Snapchatter nomination.
