Country, bluegrass and gospel music legend Ricky Skaggs will add another honor to a long list of career achievements when he is inducted into the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame on Tuesday, August 14. The ceremony will take place at Trinity Music City Auditorium in Hendersonville, Tenn., at 6:00 PM. Admission is free to the public.

Also being inducted this year are Dallas Holm, the Hoppers, Love Song and Rex Humbard, along with R&B icon Aretha Franklin.

By age 3, Ricky Skaggs had begun harmonizing with his mother as she sang gospel songs. He soon began singing with his parents at church and has always included gospel music in his vast repertoire. In his 40-year career, Ricky has earned 14 Grammys, eight CMA awards (including 1985 Entertainer of the Year), eight ACM awards, 12 IBMA honors and two Dove Awards.

Established in 1971, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame has inducted more than 150 members, including several other country-music greats such as Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley, Tennessee Ernie Ford and the Oak Ridge Boys. See a full list of the inductees here.
