Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby are set to hit the road with Skaggs' band Kentucky Thunder for a short, six-city tour kicking off in February.

"I always get excited when I know I'm gonna get to tour with my good friend Bruce Hornsby," Skaggs says in a press release. "Fireworks always happen!"

Skaggs' iconic bluegrass sound blends well with Hornsby on piano, and while Hornsby has collaborated with some of the greatest musicians of all time -- Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, the Grateful Dead and more -- working with Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder offers a new kind of challenge.

"The level of virtuosity required to play bluegrass music with the freaks of Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder requires a good deal of practice," Hornsby admits. "I always have to prepare a good deal, practicing with the metronome at break-neck speed, crazy tempos, to be able to hang with those guys."

Skaggs and Hornsby's 2017 trek is scheduled to kick off on Feb. 26 in Tarrytown, N.Y.; additional dates are scheduled in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. A complete list of stops is below.

Skaggs and Hornsby will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of their 2007 LP, Ricky Skaggs & Bruce Hornsby, during their 2017 tour. The album is available for download via iTunes and Amazon.
