RaeLynn Parts From Label, ‘Excited About This New Journey’
Following her appearance during Season 2 of The Voice in 2012, during which she made it to the quarterfinals as part of Blake Shelton's team, RaeLynn signed to Big Machine Label Group. She released a five-song EP, Me, in early 2015 and two singles on BMLG's Valory Music Co., but she won't be releasing the full-length project she's been working on with them. The singer revealed to The Boot in an interview in early April that she has parted ways with Valory, but she insists that there are no hard feelings, and she's moving full speed ahead on her record.
"They did everything in their power," RaeLynn tells The Boot of her former label. ""God Made Girls" was such a success for me. I’m so blessed to have over half a million downloads on that song. I was the highest-charting new female in 2014, and I couldn’t have done that without Big Machine and their support."
"God Made Girls" peaked in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart (No. 7) and the Top 20 on the Country Airplay chart (No. 16), and was certified gold. Her follow-up single, "For a Boy," however, didn't fare as well: It peaked at No. 32 on Hot Country Songs and at No. 58 on Country Airplay.
The recently married singer isn't wasting any time feeling sorry for herself, though: She's still a writer with Big Machine Music, has numerous concerts -- "a lot of great shows," she says -- scheduled throughout the upcoming months and is "so excited about this new journey."
"We’re recording this record, and I’m just so passionate about it. It’s like my kid; it’s like my child, this record," RaeLynn admits. "I’m going to nurture it and make sure it’s the most perfect thing before I put it out. That’s why I’ve been so picky about it."
