When RaeLynn released her new single "Love Triangle" in July, the singer-songwriter never imagined just how much the song would resonate with listeners. The track, about kids who get caught in the middle during their parents' divorce, was a true-to-life tune for the 22-year-old star -- and, as it turns out, it was for many fans as well.

"This one girl, she was talking to me about it, and she said, 'My dad wasn't even involved in my life, and I didn't even go see him every other weekend, but your song helped heal my heart towards my dad,'" RaeLynn shared with The Boot on the red carpet before the 2016 ACM Honors. "That's all I want to hear -- hearing that a song heals somebody. I'm just really grateful for that."

RaeLynn used "Love Triangle" to express her feeling over being put in the middle throughout her own parents' divorce; she's even admitted that she wrote the song on a day she was thrown into a text battle between the two. But there's one line in particular that really strikes a chord with her: "Some mommas and daddies / Don't even talk no more."

"That line just always gets me because it's true," she says. "There's so many parents that put their kids in the middle, and they just don't even talk to each other; they'll just drop their kid off and leave."

While she notes that releasing "Love Triangle" was a bit scary, given the personal nature of the song, RaeLynn says that she's been overwhelmed by the support and recognition she's received because of it.

"This song is the most vulnerable thing I've put out, and it's so awesome to know that you can put your heart on your sleeve ... and it's gonna work," she says. "And it's working because people can feel like they're in my shoes."

RaeLynn will spend her fall opening for Blake Shelton on a string of fall tour dates; more information about all of her upcoming shows is available on her website.
