Parmalee Say Next Album Will Be More ‘Upbeat’
Parmalee earned success with their 2013 album Feels Like Carolina -- the album's four singles earned spots in the Top 40 ("Musta Had a Good Time", Top 10 ("Already Callin' You Mine"), Top 5 ("Close Your Eyes") and very top spot ("Carolina") on the Country Airplay chart -- but they'll be changing things up a little bit for their next set of tunes.
"We recorded "Carolina" and "Musta Had a Good Time" in 2010, so here we are, [six] years later," band member Matt Thomas tells The Boot. "Obviously, technology has changed, things we use to make music have changed.
"It’s more upbeat," he adds of the group's new music. "... We’re excited about the material. It’s really cool getting a lot of good reaction from radio and from our fans, and from the drunk people on the bus."
Still, the four-man group -- Thomas and his brother, Scott Thomas, as well as Barry Knox and Josh McSwain -- aren't straying from their past too much. They've been working once again with New Voice Entertainment, a production team made up of three of Jason Aldean's band members -- Rich Redmond, Kurt Allison and Tully Kennedy -- along with singer David Fanning.
"We started with those guys. They’re the reason we got our deal. They’re a part of our team," Matt Thomas explains. "Plus they’re a band -- Rich, Tully and Kurt -- and we’re a band, so we work as a group. Rich is Scott’s producer, Tully’s Barry’s producer, me and Josh do Kurt, and then David Fanning’s also on board, and he helps me with vocals and stuff."
