Country-pop up-and-comer Parker McKay strips down her newest single, "Honest," for a stirring acoustic performance, premiering exclusively on The Boot. Press play above to watch.

McKay wrote "Honest" with Adam James. For this performance of the song, she backs her soulful voice on keys, a single guitarist by her side. The song's frank lyrics, about that moment at the end of a relationship when you simply just don't care anymore, shine.

"It’s when the desire to fight goes away that the real problem reveals itself. That’s when you know you have to cut your losses and be honest yourself and with each other," McKay tells Billboard. "That’s the last bit of love you can give, omitting the sugarcoat. It doesn’t have to always be an ugly ending, and I think it’s important to shed light on those situations."

A native of the Northeast -- Pittsburgh, Pa., to be exact -- McKay has lived in Nashville since 2014. She's influenced by everyone from Shania Twain to Haim to Eminem, and counts Brothers Osborne among her friends; in fact, her song "Rolling Stone" was inspired by them.

McKay has shared the stage with talented women such as Lucie SilvasMaren Morris and Natalie Hemby, and her songwriting talents have brought her opportunities to work with writers from Sony, BMG, Warner Chappel and Curb, among others. Visit to learn more.
