There will be a new face sitting beside Simon, Randy and Paula on the new season of 'American Idol.' Famed songwriter Kara DioGuardi has signed on to be a fourth judge on the hit reality talent show. Though primarily known as a pop songwriter, DioGuardi also has country credits, including Carrie Underwood's 'Sometimes You Leave' and Faith Hill's 'Lost.' She has also written a song for Martina McBride's upcoming album. Her pop credits include songs for Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and the very first 'Idol' winner, Kelly Clarkson.

When asked if she will be nice like Paula Abdul or brutal like Simon Cowell, DioGuardi says she has her own judging style that's somewhere in between. Her new job starts today, with auditions in New York. We'll see her on the eighth season of 'American Idol' in January.
