Ne-Yo Considers Country Music Career
If Ne-Yo records a sequel to his Grammy-nominated album, 'Year of the Gentleman,' he might have to title it 'Year of the Country Gentleman.' The R&B singer-songwriter seems to have his sights set on what could be an interesting career move.
"I just did this thing at the White House, and there were a whole bunch of country-and-western people over there," Ne-Yo tells HipHopdx. "They want me in Nashville. I'm going to take that Lionel Richie route and get some of that country-western money and see what happens," the Arkansas-born musician says, referring to the prolific singer-songwriter who penned hits for Alabama and Kenny Rogers, among others.
One bit of advice, Ne-Yo, if you're serious: They stopped calling it "country-western" decades ago!
