Miranda Lambert will release a brand-new single, "It All Comes Out in the Wash," on Thursday (July 18). The country star says a bit of parental wisdom -- and plenty of real-life experience -- inspired the track.

"I had the title for a while, written down in my phone," says Lambert, who co-wrote "It All Comes Out in the Wash" with the Love Junkies, the songwriter trio of Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose. "We like to talk about girly things and things going on in life when we write together, so I feel like the song is just kind of a mix of scenarios that all of us have either been a part of or seen, or, you know, something that’s happened in all of our lives, and realizing that, when you have something in your life that’s a little unclean at times, or hurtful, or a moment that you wish would pass, it does all pass, and it all comes out in the wash.

"That’s something that all of our moms would say to us when we were little — let’s not worry about a stain," Lambert continues, adding about the song, "I’m really proud of it. It’s a really fun song.”

Lambert first teased her new single on July 11 with a "glam jam" Instagram video that shows the star lip-syncing to a snippet of the song with her hair and makeup crew and photographer and director Ellen von Unwerth. "It All Comes Out in the Wash" is the first single from a new album.

The follow-up to Lambert's 2016 record The Weight of These Wings will arrive this fall, according to the star herself. Per "It All Comes Out in the Wash" and the CMA Fest debut of the punked-up country song "Locomotive," it should capture the Lambert's contentedness, strengthened in part by her recent marriage to New York City cop Brendan McLoughlin and a brief hiatus from writing solo material.

Lambert will celebrate her new music with a new iteration of her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour. The all-female trek will begin on Sept. 13 in Uncasville, Conn., and is scheduled to run through Nov. 23, when it will wrap up in Greensboro, N.C. Throughout the tour, Lambert will switch up her lineup of special guests: Maren Morris, Elle King, the Pistol AnniesTenille TownesAshley McBryde and Caylee Hammack are all scheduled to appear at various shows.
