Miranda Lambert’s Album Is One ‘Four the Record’ Books!
It's a pretty good week to be Miranda Lambert, and not just because she's married to reigning CMA Male Vocalist Blake Shelton and is herself the CMA Female Vocalist for the second consecutive year. Today (Nov. 10) marks her 28th birthday and she has the top-selling album in country music!
The Texas native's 'Four the Record' not only sold 133,000 copies this week (according to Nielsen Soundscan) to take its place at the top of Billboard's Country Albums chart, but it also becomes the singer's fourth consecutive album to debut at No. 1. That's something no other country artist has ever done with their first four albums in the nearly 48-year history of the chart. 'Four the Record' also doubles the first-week sales of her previous album, 2009's platinum-certified 'Revolution.' Miranda's first three albums have all been certified as million-sellers.
'Four the Record,' featuring the Top 5 single 'Baggage Claim,' also bows at No. 3 on the multi-genre Billboard 200 this week. That's the highest position any of Miranda's discs has achieved on that chart. Miranda's trio project, Pistol Annies, also reached No. 1 with their debut album just a few weeks ago.
Miranda is also scaling the Top Country Digital Tracks chart with 'Over You' from the new CD. The song debuts at No. 10 this week, with 24,000 downloads. Four tunes from 'Four the Record,' the blazing 'Mama's Broken Heart,' 'Fastest Girl in Town,' 'Better in the Long Run' (with Blake) and 'Baggage Claim' are also on the chart, while 'White Liar,' Gunpowder and Lead' and 'The House That Built Me,' from 'Revolution,' are all still hanging on as well. Pistol Annies is also represented with the single 'Hell on Heels.'
Meanwhile, Jason Aldean, who just snagged a CMA award for Album of the Year, has the fourth-best-selling disc of 2011 in any genre with 'My Kinda Party.' The collection remains the top-selling country album of the year. We'll find out next week what effect this week's CMA Awards telecast has on the charts.
