Miranda Lambert, Brooks & DunnMiranda Lambert is a huge fan of Brooks & Dunn, so she was a bit saddened when the duo announced they were splitting and going their separate ways. But by taking part in their CBS-TV special, 'Brooks & Dunn: The Last Rodeo,' she, along with many other hitmakers, felt Kix and Ronnie received a proper goodbye. She also had a great time at the event, performing the guys' 'Hillbilly Deluxe.'

"It was sad and great," Miranda tells The Boot, "because watching them on the ACMs the night before thinking that's the last time they'll ever perform as a duo. First of all, I don't buy that. At some point, even if it's 20 years from now, they're gonna get back together and do something on TV. We'll see it! And plus, I know they're both gonna make music -- it's in their blood, you can tell they still love what they do. But it was awesome to sit in the crowd and watch the Brooks and Dunn thing."

Miranda's song choice for the Brooks & Dunn tribute is a personal favorite ... of hers and a lot of her friends! "I loved my song 'Hillbilly Deluxe,'" explains the Oklahoma transplant. "And Jason [Aldean] and Darius [Rucker] both went, 'Hey, thanks for stealing our song!' But originally Carrie [Underwood] stole mine, because I wanted to do 'Neon Moon,' so we were all taking everybody's stuff ... My song was really fun, so I didn't feel as much pressure, but Jennifer Hudson was so moving, and one of my favorite performances was Sugarland. It was just so great."

Kix and Ronnie crashed onto the scene more than 20 years ago, and they have kept rolling steadily down the tracks with hit after hit. That's one of the things Miranda appreciates the most about the duo, who recaptured the ACM trophy for Top Vocal Duo of the Year, for the last time. "Kix and Ronnie just laid it out there, musically, which is how we should all want it," explains singer-songwriter. "It's consistently great records. There's not one song I can think of theirs that's been a single that I don't like ... the records are great, the songs are great, the voices are great. It's all just consistent. There was no roller coaster, they didn't go away and come back, they stayed here for 20 years, and they kicked ass for 20 years, and that's something to be said. That's what we all should want to do."

Miranda is most certainly kicking some rear ends herself, having recently launched her first headlining tour, Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars. She will take her guitars to the "bars" when she hits Davenport, Iowa on Thursday (May 6).

You can watch Miranda and a who's-who list of country stars on 'ACM Presents: Brooks & Dunn -- The Last Rodeo,' which airs May 23 on CBS.
