Miranda Lambert ‘Shocked’ by Proposal
Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton have been dodging the question, 'When are you guys going to get engaged?,' for quite some time. Miranda was quite surprised when she was able to tell people that it had finally happened. The two have been together for nearly five years, and when Blake popped the question on Mother's Day, Miranda had no idea that he had the surprise up his sleeve.
"I was very surprised, very surprised," says Miranda. "Being a girl, you're always like, 'When are we going to get married? When am I going to get a ring? I don't care if we get married ... just give me the ring!' [laughs] And I was shocked. I didn't know when or where or how, and I'm glad, because I love surprises. Usually I can figure those things out, but I had no clue."
One thing is for certain, though, Blake is the man for her. "I know he's the one, without a shadow of a doubt, and so does my mom," Miranda says of her fiancé. "She's always like, 'I'll know if it's the one.' And ... my parents love him, and family is a huge thing to me. So, if our families didn't get along, it would be tragic. But our families get along great, and I love his parents, and so it's perfect. It's literally the fairy tale that every girl dreams of, and I think I've earned it!"
Miranda takes her music -- and her engagement ring -- to Council Bluffs, Iowa on Thursday, May 20.
