Melissa Peterman is known by most as 'Barbara Jean' from Reba McEntire's sitcom 'Reba,' but she's been making a name for herself in country music in recent years. She stars in CMT's first-ever sitcom 'Working Class,' which just had its season finale, and is also hosting the 'Singing Bee' game show on CMT.

"I remember when 'Singing Bee' first started, and a year in I would get some, 'Hey, Barbara Jean,' but now I am getting -- it isn't my name -- but, 'Are you the 'Singing Bee' lady?'" Melissa tells The Boot. "I like that. I'll take that. I want people to have to call me that on the show. 'It's the Singing Bee Lady, and we're back on the 'Singing Bee!' [laughs]"

How does a game show compare to her other jobs? "It's the easiest, most fun ever," Melissa admits. "I love game shows, I love karaoke and I love music. It's like I get to show up and let the contestants be the stars."

And just like a fine wine, it gets sweeter with time. "Every time we bring it back, the contestants get better because they've been watching the show," Melissa explains. "The people who are auditioning are fans of the show, so when that happens you get people who are really invested. This season we had contestants who were like, 'Oh, my God. I can't wait for final countdown!' They know the games and are really well versed in the show."

A unique vibe always comes from the celebrity appearances. "We had some awesome charity episodes this season," Melissa says. "We had the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, who played for the USO, and they were awesome. I don't want to brag, but I think I'm an honorary Dallas Cowboy cheerleader."

Although, one guest did take the cake. "We had the superstars of the boy bands -- we had Bobby Brown on the 'Singing Bee!'" she exclaims. "Bobby Brown was one of those moments when I called home: "Hey, Mom. Bobby Brown is on the 'Singing Bee.' No, 'the' Bobby Brown. Yes. The 'Hell to the No' Bobby Brown.' [laughs] Then, Drew Lachey [98 Degrees] and Joey Fatone ['N Sync] were also on. They were adorable. Joey used to host the 'Singing Bee' when it was on NBC, so we had a fun little, 'Ya know what Joey? Take a step back, I'm the host now.'"

If the mic was turned, if you will, what would Melissa sing? "A great karaoke song that you can sell is 'Jolene' by Dolly Parton," she says. "That's one that I love to hear anyone do. The more drinks people have, the more I like to hear them do that song. That's what I would do."

The new season of the 'Singing Bee' premieres tonight (April 8) at 8:00 PM ET.
