Matt Stillwell Tour Bus Destroyed in Deadly Tornadoes
A wave of powerful, deadly tornadoes descended on several states throughout the country on Friday, March 2. The storms, which wreaked havoc in Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina and Ohio, destroyed thousands of homes and resulted in 39 fatalities. One country artist, Matt Stillwell, was caught in the dangerous weather, but is thankfully OK. His bus didn't fare as well, however.
"I've never seen or been a part of anything like this," says Matt. "I feel so bad for the people of East Kentucky and all the other areas that were hit with the storms last week."
The 'Drunk Enough' singer was in East Bernstadt, Ky., getting his tour bus serviced, when the town was struck by the storms. But while his bus was badly damaged in the twister, Matt is grateful everyone survived.
"Thankfully my friends and band are all OK and our bus is completely replaceable, but lives, homes and businesses are gone and that's a shame," he adds. "I'm praying for everyone involved."
A day after the deadly storms, Matt's mind was clearly still on the destruction. "Mother Nature does not discriminate!" he tweeted, posting a photo of the devastation. "Praying for all those caught up in the terrible storms this week!"
Matt isn't letting the current setback keep him off the road. He is continuing his radio tour, as well as performing several shows, including stops in North and South Carolina. He will also serve as the headlining act for Shinefest 2012 on May 25 and 26, in Fontana Dam, N.C. Keep track of his schedule here.
