Three-time Female Vocalist of the Year Martina McBride reached back into the past at the 2015 ACM Awards with an inspired performance of one of her earliest hits, "Independence Day," the 1994 track that dealt with domestic abuse.

The singer kept a smile on her face as she sang the catchy song about a very serious subject. The thousands in attendance sang along as McBride belted out the "Let freedom ring / Let the white dove sing" hook, showing that she still has one of the most powerful voices in country music.

McBride has performed on the ACM stage numerous times over the years, including a 2012 rendition of "Marry Me," performed while an actual wedding took place. She hit No. 1 on the country chart in 2014 with her last album, Everlasting, a collection of soul music covers.

The country singer is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year once again at the 2015 awards ceremony.
