Maren Morris surprised fans in Leeds, UK on Sunday (May 26) by turning one of her most tender new songs, "Great Ones," into a duet with the love of her life, husband and fellow recording artist Ryan Hurd. Press play above to watch footage of the performance.

Not all of Morris' songs are autobiographical--she doesn't actually cruise around in an '80s Mercedes, for example. Yet when the couple held hands on stage and joined voices to sing "You just fell out of the sky / The best things come when you don't even try," it looked and sounded convincingly true to life.

The couple's onstage collaboration may have been somewhat impromptu. Three days earlier, Morris took to Instagram to share that Hurd surprised her with an overseas visit. "This morning, I thought someone from the hotel didn’t see my 'Do Not Disturb' sign, but it was this guy coming to surprise me for the weekend!" she wrote.

Morris and Hurd married on March 24, 2018. It wasn't an overnight romance: they'd been acquaintances since 2013 and musical collaborators since 2015. Even in their early days as young songwriters coming up in Music City, the pair had obvious collaborative chemistry. During one of their first co-writing dates, they wrote "Last Turn Home," a song that went on to be cut by Tim McGraw.

Morris will spend the rest of May in Europe for her Girl: The World Tour before returning to the states for festival season. After that, there's another leg of tour, including a trip to Australia, plus dates on Miranda Lambert's Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour.
