A 22-year-old Chicago man was arrested after he allegedly tried to swim up to Taylor Swift's new Rhode Island home. The incident happened around 2AM Wednesday morning (May 15). He was taken into custody and charged with trespassing after admitting his plan to police.

The man's name has not been released, but according to TMZ he admitted to swimming one mile to a beach near Swift's home, spotted her security team and decided to swim back to where he came from. That's when he was discovered and approached by police. According to the Weather Channel, average Rhode Island coastal water temperatures for this time of year are near 60 degrees.

It's not clear whether or not Swift was at her new home at the time of the incident, but the presence of a security detail would indicate she was. The singer continues her Red Tour Thursday night (May 16) in Houston, Texas. Swift purchased the 11,000 square-foot home last month for $17 million. It has eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, in addition to eight fireplaces.

Westerly Police say they met with Swift's security team to discuss the incident.
