Maddie & Tae Spoof Bro Country With ‘Girl in a Country Song’
Hot new female duo Maddie & Tae might be young newcomers to the country music scene, but they aren't afraid to take a few jabs at some of the genre's biggest stars.
The two 18-year-olds poke fun at some of the reigning men of country music, or at least their singles, in their new tune, 'Girl in a Country Song.' The women reference Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, Chris Young, Billy Currington and others -- and hold nothing back.
With lines like, "I hear you over there on your tailgate whistling (whistle) / Saying 'Hey Girl' but you know I ain’t listening / Cause I got a name and to you ain’t pretty little thing, hi, or Baby / Yeah, It’s driving me red, red, red, red, red, red, redneck crazy," and "Well shakin’ my moneymaker ain’t made me a dime / And there ain’t no sugar for you in this shaker of mine / Tell me one more time you gotta get you some of that / Sure, I’ll slide on over but you’re gonna slapped / These days it ain’t easy being mad," the two young women put a female spin on what have become mainstays at country radio.
Maddie & Tae co-wrote the song with Aaron Scherz. They are signed to Dot Records, an imprint of the Big Machine Records label. They have recently moved to Nashville, and are busy writing and recording songs for their new album, as well as performing across the country.
