Maddie Marlow, one half of country duo Maddie & Tae, is engaged! The country singer confirmed to People on Friday (June 1) that her husband-to-be is Jonah Font, who she has been in a relationship with for seven years. The couple met as classmates at a high school in Texas, when Marlow was a sophomore.

Marlow says that, although she didn't know the proposal was coming, her subconscious may have ruined the surprise a little bit. "We booked a vacation to Cabo San Lucas to celebrate seven years together. Well, three days before our trip, I had a dream that he proposed on the beach but he lost the ring," the country singer tells People.

"I have a really weird thing with my dreams. I've had vivid dreams in the past that actually came true the day after the dream. So when I told Jonah about the dream, he was super freaked out," she continues. "I had no idea at the time that he was actually planning on doing it in Cabo, so I felt awful after the fact!"

Perhaps it was a good thing Marlow shared the dream with Font, however: He decided to take the warning to heart and move up his proposal a couple of days to keep the ring safe, which, Marlow says, made the event even more special. "I always told him I wanted an intimate proposal -- nothing over the top -- so it was perfect!" She gushes.

It's especially important that the ring didn't get lost, because it is one of a kind: Marlow explains that the center diamond is a family heirloom.

"The center stone on my ring is the diamond from my mom's original engagement ring. My parents have been married for 25 years!" She says. "My dad bought her a new ring a while back, so she kept her original diamond to pass down to me or my sister some day. It is so special having an heirloom ring, because I will get to pass it down one day, too."
