The year 2014 is ending with good news for Little Jimmy Dickens: His health is improving.

The Grand Ole Opry star and Country Music Hall of Famer was hospitalized with an undisclosed illness on Christmas (Dec. 25). A press release at the time stated that he was in "critical care;" however, he's made steps toward recovery in the days since.

"Each day brings noticeable improvements, and his doctors seem very pleased with the progress he is making," Pete Fisher, Grand Old Opry vice president and general manager, shares. "I, along with his family, are grateful to all for your thoughts and prayers."

Dickens turned 94 on Dec. 19. He last played the Opry the following day (Dec. 20), as part of his 94th birthday celebration.
