Lee Ann Womack Keeps Daughters Busy at Home

Lee Ann Womack was among the star-studded cast of performers and presenters, including Keith Richards, Percy Sledge, and George Jones, at the Oct. 28 Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum Award Show in Nashville.

But back at home, things are much less glamorous for the singer and her family. Lee Ann tells Paste magazine she expects her daughters, 17-year-old Aubrie and 9-year-old Anna Lise, to pull their weight around the house, which means doing chores every day.

"Lord knows everyone has to learn how to clean a bathroom," Lee Ann says. "Even if it's to show their housekeeper how they want it done."

Although she's praised for keeping the country in her music, Lee Ann keeps the music - and music business - out of her Nashville home as much as possible. Yes, both daughters appeared in Lee Ann's award-winning 'I Hope You Dance' video, and Aubrie sings harmony on the just-released 'Call Me Crazy,' but don't look for musical instruments around the house, or platinum records hanging on the walls.

"I find it a struggle to be the star I'm supposed to be," says Lee Ann, "to dress like, act like, live like a star, but then be a normal mom. I don't like for the girls to watch award shows when I'm on, and we don't listen to the CDs. We just don't live that way."
