LeAnn Rimes Held Up Traffic to Hear Herself on the Radio for the First Time
LeAnn Rimes became a household name in 1996, when her debut album, Blue, reached No. 1. The title track was a Top 10 hit when Rimes was just 13 years old, and by the time she was 15, the singer had won two Grammy Awards, for Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance ("Blue").
So, where was Rimes when she heard her first single on the radio for the first time? Below, she recalls the moment to The Boot.
I heard "Blue" for the first time when I was in Nashville. My family and I were returning the rental car at the airport before a flight. It came on right as we were about to get out of the car.
I wouldn't let them return it until the song was over. We held up traffic for several minutes!
