Kenny Chesney's only solo live performance of 2014 has proven to be a very hot show.

The superstar revealed plans for a beach concert called the Flora-Bama Jama in a surprise announcement Wednesday (July 16). The one-time-only gig is set to take place on Aug. 16 at the Flora-Bama, a celebrated venue located where Orange Beach and Gulf Shores meet Perdido Key on the Alabama/Florida border.

The show is free, and Chesney set up a special portal at his website where fans could RSVP to get a chance to redeem a wristband, which will allow them access to the concert. When that portal opened at 7AM Thursday morning (July 17), the overwhelming demand actually crashed the site. When the portal re-opened at 7:30AM, the wrist bands for the fenced-in beach area were gone in less than five minutes.

“Maybe the fans are as hungry to see me as I am them,” Chesney says. “'Cause I can’t wait to get out there and play. As I’ve said: I really miss not playing shows, seeing the people and having that exchange of energy that we have every night! The No Shoes Nation always brings it, and brings it hard –- and they push me to be a better artist.”

He says the Flora-Bama's unique environment -- which attracts a wide spectrum of patrons -- is the perfect setting for the show.

“There are a few places that have the vibe," Chesney notes, "but not many bring together everything that -- to me -- makes for a great time: the beach, room to hang out, nowhere to hurry, lots of friends you don’t know yet -- and an environment that says, ‘Come! Have a good time!’ The Flora-Bama has all that, and more... and getting out on that beach to play is gonna be awesome. I’m already psyched to know this is really happening.”

Chesney has taken 2014 off from the road to focus on his new album, ‘The Big Revival,’ which is set to drop on Sept. 23. He has already released the video for the album’s lead single, ‘American Kids,’ which has become his fastest-breaking song at country radio in years.
