Kenny Chesney performed "American Kids" at the 2015 CMT Music Awards, and although his music video for the song features a psychedelic bus, the singer didn't need any props to get the massive crowd into his set.

Chesney performed outdoors, and Broadway in Nashville was absolutely packed with fans singing along to every word -- so loudly, in fact, that at some points, they almost drowned him out. Armed with just his guitar and a small backing band, Chesney showed that sometimes, all you need is a good song.

Chesney received three nominations at the awards show, including Video of the Year and Male Video of the Year (both "American Kids") as well as Collaborative Video of the Year (for "Wild Child" with Grace Potter).

The singer has had plenty of stage time lately thanks to his 2015 The Big Revival Tour. It's one of the most-buzzed-about country tours this summer and is hitting up arenas, amphitheaters and stadiums; it's also featuring some of country's hottest acts as openers: Brantley Gilbert, Old DominionJake OwenChase Rice and Cole Swindell. The tour also includes stadium shows with Jason Aldean and Eric Church.

The "American Kids" hitmaker has been on the road since the end of March and will wrap up the tour at the end of August, and he's very focused on making sure his fans are completely satisfied at the end of the evening.

“Every time, I want people to have the best night of their lives,” Chesney says. “I take that very seriously. I’ve heard enough stories about people planning their summer around coming to see us, and when you know that, you wanna always give ’em more and better, trying to think what else? But, you know, these songs are the reason people come — and I don’t ever want to take away from the music.”
