Kellie Pickler is on the road this fall with Rascal Flatts, as well as writing and recording songs for a new album. So it might seem unlikely that the former 'American Idol' contestant would have time to also work on wedding plans with her fiancé, songwriter Kyle Jacobs. But, the blushing bride-to-be says the upcoming ceremony is top of mind.

"It will happen sooner rather than later," Kellie tells The Boot. "We're in a very early stage. Plans are slowly but surely coming along."

First on the North Carolina native's list though, is wrapping up her follow-up album to her No.1 self-titled 2008 release, that included her Top Ten hit, 'Best Days of Your Life.' "I think once the record gets finished I can jump into wedding mode," she tells People magazine.

Until that day comes, Kellie is having a blast on the Flatts Nothing Like This tour, which wraps up in November. "They're like the three big brothers I never had," she tells The Boot. "I got to tour with them a couple years ago and it was so much fun. I'm glad they asked me to come back. We're having fun. That's what it's all about."

Kellie has already joined several of country music's biggest tours, including time on the road with Brad Paisley, Sugarland and a 15-month run on Taylor Swift's record-breaking Fearless tour. So with all this experience under her belt, is the platinum-selling singer ready to take on her own tour? "Not anytime soon," she acknowledges. "I don't want the responsibility of that, and I probably wouldn't feel like I could."

One thing Kellie does know how to do is write songs. The tunesmith took home her third ASCAP Award earlier this week for Most Performed Song for co-writing 'Best Days of Your Life' with pal Taylor Swift.
