Only a couple weeks after Kellie Pickler said she wasn't in any rush to start a family with her husband, Kyle Jacobs, the singer has announced a new addition to the family!

"A pit bull (at vet) w/broken pelvis & venomous snake bite will be a part of our family if he makes it through the night. Poor lil guy," tweeted the 25-year-old over the weekend. The following day she added an update, saying "Pit bull is Okay. On the way to pick him up now PRAYING he gets along with our other dogs or we'll have to find him another home."

The North Carolina native, who named the new pet Chunk, is spending the next few months putting the finishing touches on her third studio album. The debut single from the upcoming CD, 'Tough,' is already soaring up the charts. The new tune is, according to the 'American Idol' alumnus, a great way to kick off the new compilation of songs.

"I've never been more excited about even just a single that we're releasing to radio," she gushes to The Boot. "I think it's gonna be the best one that we've given radio. It's country. It's got a little bluegrass, it's got some fiddle, it's got some steel and it's got some spoons. It's got kind of a dirty hillbilly [sound], but it's still commercial enough, I think, for country radio."

Kellie will also perform a few dates over the summer while she works on the new CD, including a show in Wisconsin tomorrow night (July 8). Keep track of her concert schedule here.
