Kellie PicklerKellie Pickler has been working on her new album -- the follow-up to her self-titled sophomore disc -- and she says she will be heading back to her roots on the forthcoming project.

The North Carolina native is writing for the third album, which should include some classic-sounding tunes. "It's very country," Kellie tells MTV News. "I grew up listening to more traditional country music: Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Tammy [Wynette], Dolly [Parton]. So, I'm kind of going back to my roots. I'm excited about that."

Kellie is up for a pair of CMT Music Awards, including Female Video of the Year for her hit 'Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You.' And speaking of videos, she's set to shoot the music video for her new single, 'Makin' Me Fall in Love Again,' next week with director Roman White.

Kellie will hit Fresno, Calif., on Saturday (April 10) as part of Taylor Swift 's Fearless tour. Her new album is currently slated for a fall release.
