Keith Urban, Nashville Symphony Harmony Award Winner

Keith Urban has another trophy to add to his collection. The New Zealand-born star took home the 2012 Nashville Symphony's Harmony Award, in recognition of his contributions to the Nashville music scene. A special ceremony in his honor was held Saturday night (Dec. 8) at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

"I feel that Nashville is just opening up and letting the rest of the world know that this is Music City USA," Keith tells Country Weekly of the honor. "We have the expansion of the Country Music Hall of Fame going on, a wonderful symphony, all styles of music happening here. Even our genre of country music is expanding exponentially. This award represents the synergy of all the music in Nashville and all of us coming together. I've always wanted to give back to the community after living here for so many years. This award is very important to me. It's very sweet."

Previous recipients of the Harmony Award include Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts, Trisha Yearwood and Dolly Parton.

Keith is gearing up for a busy 2013. In addition to serving as a judge on the hit TV show, "American Idol," he's also working on a brand-new album, which he says will differ from 2010's Get Closer.

"We have cut a lot of songs already," he reveals. "I think this album will be very diverse. I'm looking for some different sounds and styles for this one."

The superstar will also kick off a new tour, with Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch serving as opening acts. See a list of his concert dates here. First up, however, Keith is in Las Vegas tonight (Dec. 10) for a performance at the American Country Awards. He's also nominated for two trophies.
