Keith Urban Cancels Concert After Nicole Kidman’s Father Passes Away
Keith Urban has canceled his scheduled performance at the Washington State Fair in the wake of the tragic news that his wife Nicole Kidman's father has passed away.
According to People magazine, Dr. Antony Kidman died after a fall while visiting his daughter, Antonia Kidman, and her six children in Singapore. Dr. Kidman was a clinical psychologist at the Royal North Shore Hospital and a director of health psychology at the University of Technology Sydney.
"Nicole and her family are in shock by the sudden death of her father. She appreciates the outpouring of support and kindly requests privacy during this very difficult time," Kidman's publicist said in a prepared statement.
Nicole's mother, Janelle Kidman, was reportedly not in Singapore with her husband at the time.
The Seattle Times reports that Urban has canceled his concert slated for Saturday night (Sept. 13) at the Washington State Fair. The fair posted the following announcement Friday:
The Washington State Fair has received notification from Keith Urban’s management that his concert date on Saturday, Sept. 13 will be canceled due to the untimely death of his father-in-law. The Fair sends its condolences to both Keith Urban and his wife, Nicole Kidman.
The Fair is in contact with Urban’s management. They appreciate the patience of ticket holders at this time. Urban’s management will be determining the best course of action for ticket holders, and the Washington State Fair will make another announcement in several hours.
