Keith UrbanKeith Urban would love to mentor 'American Idol' contestants. Just not in front of the whole world.

"I think I'd be interested in doing that ... but not on camera!" Keith laughingly tells CMT Radio Live. "That's a tricky thing, because as much as I think there's a lot of things we can do to help younger artists avoid some of the things we avoided, at the same time it's a delicate balance ... where we don't want to seem like we know it all, you know? But I'd like to do it ... off camera!"

Keith goes on to underscore how important it is for an aspiring young artist to feel comfortable in their own skin.

"I think a lot of artists just need to find their own way too," he notes. "You've just got to be yourself. Because there's no rules to any of it."

One aspiring young artist in particular who stands out to Keith is American Idol's Season 8 winner, Kris Allen. The two performed a duet of Keith's 'Kiss a Girl' during the show's final performance, impressing the country superstar so much that he's now looking to collaborate with Kris in the studio.

"He's got a great new song out right now which I really love," Keith raves. "And I love playing with him. His management reached out to ours, and we thought it would be a good combination. So I'd like to figure out a song we could do together!"
