Watch Justin Moore Busk (Without His Cowboy Hat!) in a New York City Subway Station
Justin Moore celebrated the release of his new album, Late Nights and Longnecks, by going incognito in the New York City subway. Yup, the singer took off his signature cowboy hat for a recent busking session in a subway station near Rockefeller Center.
Highlights of a set that featured only Moore and two acoustic guitarists include the overexcited dancer during "Why We Drink" (readers can watch that performance above) and a version of 2016's "You Look Like I Need a Drink" that shifts Matt Dragstrem, Natalie Hemby and Rodney Clawson's strong lyrics to the forefront.
The other two songs that Moore performed -- 2013's "Point at You" and the Late Night and Longnecks single "The Ones That Didn't Make It Back Home" -- also offer something old and something new. The former sparked an audience clap-a-long, while the latter brought a somber dose of reality to an otherwise fun mini-concert.
Moore's busking session was the work of Subway Creatures, a multi-platform collective "that highlights the funny, bizarre and weird things seen in the subways around the world." The Subway Creatures accounts traffic in viral videos, pop-up performance videos, podcasts and more.
As for Moore, he's currently on tour to promote his fifth studio album, which he released on July 26.
