Singer-songwriter Justin Adams is releasing a new EP on Friday (May 11), and he's sharing one of its tracks in advance with The Boot's readers. Press play below to hear the exclusive premiere of Adams' new song "Good Rain or Jesus."

Adams says he fell in love with "Good Rain or Jesus" -- written by Jonathan Singleton and Barry Dean -- from the very first time he heard it. The song's demo, though, was significantly different from Adams' finished product, which is a sparse track, featuring Adams' vocals backed, until the end of the tune, by a single acoustic guitar and quiet drums.

"The demo was a huge band production, so when we went into the studio my producer, Derek Wells, wanted to strip it down a bit more and make it more a vocal performance on the record," Adams explains. "I trust him so much musically, and the end project of this song over exceeded any expectation I had of it."

A native of Bixby, Okla., a town located slightly south of Tulsa, Adams is signed to Universal Music Publishing and writes regularly with fellow tunesmiths including Casey Beathard and Rivers Rutherford; in fact, he co-wrote Granger Smith's newest single, "Youre in It," with Frank Rogers and another frequent collaborator, Mark Nesler. Adams has also played shows with, among others, Dustin Lynch and Dan + Shay.

Adams' sophomore EP, Horizon, features eight songs, including "Good Rain and Jesus." Fans can pre-order the project on iTunes.
