Josh Turner Hopes His Sons Will Learn to Be Romantic

Josh Turner has never been afraid to show his softer side with songs such as 'Your Man' and 'Would You Go With Me' and, ladies, we have his grandfather to thank for that.

"My granddaddy on my momma's side, he was a romantic," Josh tells The Boot. "He loved love songs. Every Valentine's Day, I remember him buying a red carnation for my grandmomma, my momma and my sister. That was something you could count on every year. Little things like that that I saw him do, really made a big impact on me because when you have somebody you love it's important that you show them that."

That openness is something Josh hopes to pass on to his sons: Hampton Otis (4), Colby Lynch (22 months) and Crawford Marion (4 months). "The romantic side of a man is very important," he says. "I want my boys to be able to show the people that they love how much that they love them."

It's that same quality that inspired Josh to record his latest single 'I Wouldn't Be a Man,' which was originally released by Don Williams. "It has that timeless melody and a lyric that's really romantic and something I felt would relate to a lot of people," the South Carolina native explains. "I feel like it's exactly what a man wants to say to a woman when he truly loves her and so that was the core of what drew me to that song in the beginning."

Covering the song of a Country Music Hall of Famer can be a tough decision, but Josh found the right approach. "I felt like Don Williams did a great job with it," he says. "I felt like there was still room left for creativity and not necessarily improvement, but uniqueness. I felt like I could add something different to it."

Josh and his wife Jennifer, who plays in her husband's band, are touring this summer with all three boys.

"It's been pretty busy, but we have help," Josh admits. "We wouldn't trade it for the world. We enjoy being able to travel out here as a family."
