How Jon Pardi’s Girlfriend and Eric Church Shaped His ‘Heartache Medication’ Album
If Jon Pardi was fence-sitting on the signature song from his new Heartache Medication album, his girlfriend, Summer Duncan, pushed him over.
The quiet California native admits "Old Hat" is as personal to her as it is to him during an interview with Taste of Country Nights. The conversation — part of the new ToC Nights Live! video series — gets quite personal. Actually, the 34-year-old talks quite a bit about his girlfriend of two years, prompting host Evan Paul to ask when he might make it official.
The full interview will premiere on Taste of Country's YouTube page and air on Taste of Country Nights on Thursday (Sept. 26), at 9PM ET. Set a reminder to watch by clicking the appropriate button at the above video embed.
Heartache Medication (due out Sept. 27) is Pardi's third album and his most traditional to date, which is saying something if you've listened to California Sunrise (2016) and Write You a Song (2014). On if he's an "Old Hat," he tells Taste of Country, “I’m just real. I’m not gonna lie. I’ll shake hands, work hard — that’s all I do is work hard.”
"Heartache Medication" is Pardi's current single, but a song called "Don't Blame It on the Whiskey" is stealing headlines. This duet with Lauren Alaina was co-written by Miranda Lambert and Eric Church, and there's a whole story of how that came to be. Additionally, find out why Pardi broke up with Jack Daniel's and what expensive gift he bought himself after performing on American Idol earlier this year.
ToC Nights Live! is a new video series that features top-tier country artists telling stories, playing games, performing and having fun with the radio show hosts. Find it across the Taste of Country network, on YouTube and Facebook Live and on nearly 70 great country radio stations nationwide. The radio show airs on over 100 stations nightly, from 7PM to midnight.
