Joe Diffie Sells ‘Basement Tapes’

Joe Diffie, who had songs cut by the likes of Holly Dunn and Hank Thompson before recording such hits as 'Pickup Man' and 'Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die),' has begun selling outtakes and demos through his MySpace page.

"Like most artists who have been as lucky as I've been to have such a long career, there are many songs I love that have never made it onto any of my records," Diffie writes on his MySpace blog.

Diffie's first batch of "basement tapes" consists of three songs - 'Tapestry of Heartaches,' 'I'm Holdin' On' and a bluegrass murder ballad called 'Til Death.' People who buy all three tracks through PayPal at 99 cents apiece will receive a fourth one free.

Diffie, who also is currently recording an album that includes duets with Bo Bice and Marc Broussard, says he plans to leave each set of "basement tapes" on the site for a limited time, then replace them with others.
