Joe Diffie Cookbook Blends Family Recipes and Country Hits
Trisha Yearwood now has a little friendly competition! Joe Diffie is the latest country singer turned cookbook author, with the release of 'Homecoming: The Diffie Family Cookbook.' The 151-page cookbook, out today (December 8), highlights family recipes and Joe's own take on down-home southern cooking dishes. It also includes his favorite holiday traditions and foods, such as his aunt's Wassail and his mother's Date Loaf Candy, plus her tasty Garlic Chicken Fried Steak.
"I'm indebted to my mom, not only for teaching me my way around a kitchen but for working with me to help compile all of the recipes in this book," says Joe. "She contacted many of our relatives and helped me organize the content for the book. Of course, she's a very special lady, kind of a cross between Paula Deen and Aunt Bee. She's an incredible cook!"
Joe adds that his goal for the book was "to reflect everything there is about the joy of a family cooking and sharing a meal together. I hope my family and I can bring some of our experiences into the lives of others. Preparing a meal at home and eating together as a family creates bonds that last a lifetime."
Those who purchase 'Homecoming: The Diffie Family Cookbook' will also receive a tasty side dish -- 'The Ultimate Collection,' a compilation CD featuring 20 of Joe's biggest hits, including 'John Deere Green' and 'Pickup Man.'
Joe Diffie released his tenth studio album, 'Homecoming: The Bluegrass Album' in October. The 12-song CD includes guest appearances from Rhonda Vincent, the Grascals and Alecia Nugent. Check out Joe's concerts and appearances here, and order his new cookbook here.
