Jimmy WayneLast week while making his way through Oklahoma on his Meet Me Halfway solo walk across America, Jimmy Wayne was pulled over by the police. Ironically, of course, Jimmy wasn't driving, he was walking!

As Jimmy made his way along Highway 152 on the outskirts of Mustang, Okla., he and the Hiscall, Inc. driver hired to follow the singer on his trek, approached a police officer for directions.

"We pulled up in this little small town and asked the police officer for directions," Jimmy tells The Boot. "He pointed in the right direction, then about 20 minutes later, he showed up with a canine unit and stopped us on the side of the road to search the vehicle with the canine. He took our licenses and did all this research. He found out that we were OK."

Jimmy documented the police search live via Ustream (Part 1, Part 2) so fans could see what was happening. "I've never got my license taken from me for walking," he says with a laugh. "They were just doing their job. I understand that, especially when there's nothing else to do out here ... and when you're wearing ski goggles and ski clothes, you stand out, and you look weird!"

Jimmy began walking again on Monday (March 22) after taking the weekend off to regroup while Oklahoma was hit with another snow storm. He continues along Highway 152 this week which will have him crossing the Texas border shortly. He expects to arrive in Phoenix, Ariz. sometime in late May or early June.

Jimmy's project Meet Me Halfway is designed to help bring awareness to the plight of teens who age out of the foster-care system.
