Jenna Paulette, ‘Slow Dancing on the Moon’ Music Video [Exclusive Premiere]

Jenna Paulette is premiering the music video for her new song "Slow Dancing on the Moon" exclusively with The Boot. Readers can press play above to watch the clip.

The "Slow Dancing on the Moon" music video follows Paulette and a romantic interest -- the same guy from her "F-150" video -- on a date in the middle of nowhere. They're cuddled up in the back of her truck, watching a sunset and dancing on the desert sand as the moon rises.

Paulette tells The Boot that "Slow Dancing on the Moon" reminds her of the Dixie Chicks' "Cowboy, Take Me Away" -- a song she'd sing "on the back of our four-wheelers at our ranch, while waiting for my grandfather to bring the cows around." She told songwriter Ashley Gorley that story, and he asked Paulette if he could share "a modern-day version of that song" with her.

"The minute that first chorus melody hits, along with the imagery in the lyric," Paulette remembers, "it gave me the same feeling that “Cowboy, Take Me Away” does -- the feeling of being so into someone and so far out in the middle of nowhere that you feel like you’re the only ones on the planet."

Paulette released "Slow Dancing on the Moon" earlier this month; it's the first song she's released that she didn't write.

"I am convinced that the best artists, and the ones I look up to most ... have never been afraid to cut things they didn't write," Paulette reflects. "The songs they cut made their careers diverse and solidified because they know themselves well enough to choose a song that fits them like a glove. They become an authentic vessel for the world to hear some songs that may never have seen the light of day."

A native of the Dallas, Texas, area, Paulette knew she wanted to pursue a career in music for years. She chose to go to college and major in visual communications after reading a story about Kenny Chesney and how his own marketing degree has helped him in his career.
