Jason Aldean's 'The Truth' cut through the lies -- Miranda Lambert's 'White Liar,' in fact -- to spend a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Chart and to land at the top of this week's Mediabase/Country Aircheck country chart. The song is the third multi-week No. 1 in a row from the Georgia native's 'Wide Open' album. The two previous chart-toppers from the platinum project are two-week No. 1 'She's Country' and 'Big Green Tractor,' which held the top spot for four weeks.

Jason says he had to convince the powers-to-be that 'Truth' was the perfect follow up to 'Big Green Tractor.' "From day one, it was my favorite song on that album, and I wanted to make sure that we got to it as a single," Jason tells The Boot. "I was able to talk [the label folks] into letting me have it as a third single. It was one of those things that if it hadn't done well, they probably wouldn't listen to me next time. But thank goodness it did well, so hopefully they'll pay attention when I talk to them now!"

Despite his own confidence in the song, Jason was a bit surprised by the strong reaction from fans. "Most people look at me as the uptempo guy, and to come and say, 'This ballad is my favorite song on the album' is surprising to a lot of people, and it's the most traditional thing that we've ever released, which was really cool. I think it was time to kind of change it up a little bit and show people a different side of what we do. And I'm just glad people took to it and seemed to like it."

Jason's currently on the road with his Wide Open tour, with the next stop is Salem, Va. on Thursday (Feb. 4).
