While newcomer and Alabama native Jacob Lyda may have moved to Nashville in 2006 to pursue his career as a country singer, his mind is never far from his family and friends back home. After tornadoes blew through his hometown of Stevenson, Ala. last month, Jacob immediately traveled south to witness the wreckage first-hand.

"Thankfully, everyone in my family is OK," Jacob writes on his website. "My family is working through major damage to our possessions and property; it's going to be a long road. My thoughts and prayers go out to friends and neighbors who have lost their lives in this devastating tragedy."

Jacob may reside in Music City, but he wasn't immune to the destruction. A home he still owns in the area suffered severe roof damage and every window in the house was blown out. In addition, a garage containing two classic trucks that he was restoring with his father was destroyed.

Despite his loss, Jacob was able to make it back to Tennessee in time to film the music video for his debut single, 'Doing Alright.' He'll perform it and other songs from the upcoming project at a special concert to benefit tornado victims, to be held May 21 at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Billed 'Coming Together After the Storm,' the concert will also feature the angelic-voiced Mallary Hope ('Love Lives On,' 'Blossom in the Dust'). It will be simulcast live on Chattanooga's WRCB Channel 3, as well as radio stations US-101, 103.7 KISS-FM, My 98.1, and Rock 105, beginning at 7:00 PM ET on May 21.
