The Boot is happy to introduce Canadian duo Martha's Trouble, who perform "Late Night Drive" along with artist Jesi Godwin for December's Guest Room Sessions installment.

Martha's Trouble, made up of husband and wife Rob and Jen Slocumb, and Godwin recorded this video at the John Emerald Distillery in Opelika, Ala., and as Jen Slocumb explains, they invited Godwin to join in on the song for a very specific reason.

"We had been trying to perform [this] song since we wrote it, but something felt like it was missing. So we put it aside," Slocumb tells The Boot. "... We had Jesi join us for this song because it wasn’t until she started singing it with me that the song came to life and took me back to the time we wrote it."

During the video, Slocumb plays drums, her husband mans the acoustic guitar, Godwin adds her vocals, and the owner of the John Emerald Distillery plays the accordion.

"Late Night Drive" was written by Martha's Trouble after driving from Colorado to Alabama ... but they weren't in a car: They were in an RV with their children. And their son Wilson was having the time of his life.

"In the late hours of driving, Rob was driving (which he always does), but Wilson was in the co-pilot seat, and he had the biggest smile on his face. Rob looked over at him watching the road and the lights and enjoying the quiet that we love about the road, and he had such a feeling of fulfillment," Jen Slocumb explains. "It was being able to share our love for the road with our kids, and we loved every minute of it."
